I have had two opportunities to go to medical facilities with college classes
and draw actual cadavers. A long standing tradition since Leonardo da Vinci's
day, it was an interesting if somewhat disturbing experience. The bodies we were
able to draw had been thoroughly disected and were dried out and brown in wpite
of the preservatives which smelled so awful. Once I sat down to study the forms
as I drew, I was able to get past the fact that these were actual people who had
passed away not so long before.The tendons and ligaments of a body are the most
fascinating to me, with their control ove the quick muscle fibers that we move
so casually and elaborately in our day to day lives, each movement expressing
